Creating and maintaining a balanced development of a rural area goes hand in hand with the strengthening (and/or renewal) of the landscape. By creating a win/win situation it is possible to protect precious rural areas and ensure natural development. Agrarian functions are vital for outdoor areas, the use of other functions (e.g. recreational) strengthen the general appreciation and therefore support proper maintenance. The importance to ground the landscape structures and to fit in the new functions is one of the main activities of Hollandschap.
